Here's a little bit about me:
* My hobbies are watching my kids compete in their sports, learning guitar, reading, hiking, kayaking and having fun with my family and friends.
* I have an absolute passion for teaching. Even after 25 years (24 in Rocklin), I look forward to each new school year.
* I am married with two children, ages 17 and 20. My girls play rugby , playing with their community club and an international team. My youngest has helped form a rugby 7's team for girls at her high school. I love the diverse community and mental toughness this sport has brought to both of my girls. My oldest is off to CSU Chico this fall.
* I live in Cameron Park. I chose to bring my children with me to Sierra during their elementary years because I love the education provided to them. My children, now in high school and college, still hold the life and academic attitudes fostered through their education at Sierra.
*This will be my 25th year of teaching. I began as a bilingual Spanish teacher in Merced, CA.
* I acquired my Spanish language skills through college courses and living in Puebla, Mexico for two months. I volunteered in migrant classrooms, which greatly helped my language and cultural knowledge.
* I have certifications in second language acquisition, a reading specialist, Level 3 IB trained, Teacher Who Makes a Difference 2013 and am working towards my GATE certificate. Because I have completed the majority of the courses, I am qualified to teach GATE clusters.
